When we talk about fighting food insecurity, it’s easy to imagine food pantries, soup kitchens, and donation drives—but sometimes the most powerful solutions come from unexpected places.

Case in point: Nate Janousek, owner of Fun Biz Concessions, who has made it his mission to ensure that no leftover fair food goes to waste. After every carnival, Janousek holds a food donation drive, turning what might have been discarded into lifelines for hungry families.

At this year’s Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) in Wyoming, Janousek teamed up with Wyoming First Lady Jennie Gordon, founder of the Wyoming Hunger Initiative, to deliver truckloads of food to local nonprofits.

“I don’t think anybody feels good about thinking about kids going to school in the morning without breakfast in their stomach,” Janousek said. “Or coming home at night and not having food for dinner. … I think that breaks all of our hearts if we sit down and take the time to think about it.”

We couldn’t agree more.

From Carnival Treats to Community Meals

Janousek’s efforts go far beyond one event. He has been donating food on a smaller scale for five years, but in the last two years, his collaboration with the Wyoming Hunger Initiative has taken his mission to a new level.

Instead of letting leftover ingredients sit in storage or go to waste, Janousek donates:

  • Dairy products
  • Fresh meats (including beef kosher hot dogs)
  • Produce
  • Dry goods
  • Condiments and ingredients

These donations reach organizations like Laramie County Senior Services (LCSS), which provides balanced, healthy meals to local seniors every weekday.

Katie Brady, executive director of LCSS, describes the food donations as transformative:

“It’s kind of like Christmas,” Brady said. “It’s a big deal because you’re thinking of all the things you can make, and how you can enhance your menu. You think about your customers and how happy they’re going to be.”

That’s the impact of one man’s determination to fight hunger.

Why Meals N Feelz Applauds This Work

At Meals N Feelz, we believe in building a future where stories like Nate Janousek’s aren’t rare—they’re the norm. Food shouldn’t be a privilege. No child should go to school hungry. No senior should have to choose between paying for medication and buying groceries.

We are still in the building phase, but our mission is clear:

💜 Feed the community.
💚 Reduce waste.
💜 Transform compassion into action.

And just like Janousek, we know it starts with simple, human acts of generosity that ripple outward.
