You’ve heard the word fidya—maybe even paid it. But what happens next?

Where does your fidya go? What does it actually do?

At Meals n Feelz, we want to pull back the curtain. Because fidya isn’t just a checkbox. It’s a commitment to feeding real people—with real food—in a way that honors both your intention and their dignity.

Fidya Isn’t Theoretical. It’s a Meal.

When you give fidya, it doesn’t vanish into a generic fund. It turns into a warm plate of food for someone who needs it.

Sometimes it’s a bag of groceries for a mother feeding her kids between paychecks.
Sometimes it’s a fresh-cooked meal served at a community center or church basement.
Sometimes it’s a home-delivered box for an elderly neighbor who can’t leave the house.

You may never see their face—but your fidya is there.

The Math Behind the Meal

So what does it really cost to feed someone?

Islamic tradition recommends that fidya cover the cost of feeding one person per missed fast. At current estimates, that’s about $10 per day—though it may vary slightly based on local prices.

Here’s what your fidya can do:

  • $10 = one meal for one person
  • $30 = a family meal bundle from a local pantry
  • $100 = enough to stock a neighborhood fridge with staples
  • $300 = a week’s worth of produce for a small community meal program

And when we say “meal,” we mean food that nourishes. Fresh produce. Culturally appropriate ingredients. Meals that affirm dignity—not leftovers scraped together at the last minute.

We Work With the People Already Doing the Work

Meals n Feelz doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel. We’re not here to build new soup kitchens or start from scratch.

Instead, we partner with local food pantries, community kitchens, and mutual aid networks that already feed people with care and consistency.

These are the people who know their neighborhoods. Who stretch every dollar. Who serve without judgment.

Your fidya strengthens their hands.

Behind Every Plate Is a Chain of Trust

We get it—when you give online, especially to a new organization, you want to know that it’s legit. That your money is going where it should. That someone is eating because of you.

That’s why we:

✅ Vet every program we work with
✅ Track meals served and pounds of food distributed
✅ Prioritize dignity and cultural sensitivity
✅ Publish stories from the field to show your impact

And most importantly: we never forget what fidya is really about.

It’s not a loophole. It’s love in action.

It Starts with You

When you give fidya through Meals n Feelz, you’re not giving to us. You’re giving through us—to the hands that serve, the plates that fill, and the people who feel seen, fed, and cared for.

We’re not asking for donations today.
We’re asking you to join the movement.
